veronicas planet
uninvited
When did we loose ourselves?
When did the horrifying acts of yesterday
Become part of today's agenda?
I opened the door and you came inside.
Sitting down at my kitchen table,
Discussing
Fairly common topics,
Over bologna and mustard.
Trials and tribulations forgotten,
(For simply one moment).
Do you ever wonder how one second,
Can renavigate a course?
Justifiably so.
I gave my altered concept of love a chance,
Ignoring consequences, inexperience, and space.
I fell to my knees,
Beneath the alter,
I so gently placed you upon.
Do you ever wonder why disappointment hits so hard?
Is it unspoken words,
or the tongues of truth,
Refusing to be heard.
Hypocrisy blinded by reason.
The words of our fathers
Fell into deaf ears,
and history repeated itself,
time after time.
War is no different then love it seems.
Wounded pride,
Justifying deceit,
manipulating youth.
Skepticism gives birth to,
Carefully planned attacks,
originating from,
Miscommunicated intentions.
Do you ever wonder why,
Innocence comes at such an unreasonable price.
Children of prophets,
turning the other cheek,
Until pain becomes nothing,
Silencing the pacifist,
And seeking the other eye.
Do you ever wonder why
Despite such obvious atrocities
We all strive to simply remain human.
Free of corruption.
The touch of tiny fingertips,
struggling to paint a bigger picture,
Begging Gorbachev to tear down our walls.
Fearing the other side,
Yet unable to function without.
Trying to learn without resentment,
Unable to forget,
perceptions, scars, and venom.
Fighting unseen things,
Praying for life.
